Germany Taking Over the 2022 G7 Presidency
Germany is taking over the 2022 G7 Presidency for the first time since 2015. The members of the G7 Summit take turns hosting the summit, last year it was hosted by the UK and in 2023 it will be Japan who takes over the G7 Presidency.
The summit will be held in the Bavarian Alps at Schloss Elmau. The 2022 G7 Summit will be the 7th time that Germany has hosted the summit, dating back to 1978 when it was first hosted under a German Presidency.
“We will make the most of our G7 Presidency to ensure this group of states takes on a pioneering role – dedicated to climate neutrality and a just world,” said Federal Chancellor Olaf Scholz.
Germany, France, Italy, Canada, Japan, the United Kingdom, and the United States are members of the G7, as well as the European Union who also gets representation.
The 2022 G7 Summit will take place between the 26th and 28th of June. Follow along with the German Honorary Consul of Charlotte’s blog to get more updates on the G7 Summit, the German government, and more.
