Germany Has a Long Way to Go to Reach 2030 Energy Goals 

Germany has set a massive goal for themselves to cut carbon dioxide emissions by 65% from 1990 to 2030. With only 8 years left to achieve this goal, it will be a steep task. In order to achieve this goal, they’ll have to cut energy consumption by 20-25% over the next 8 years.

"We managed to cut emissions by an average of 15 million tonnes each year from 2010 to 2020, and from 2022 to 2030 we have to cut them by 40 million tonnes a year, on average." said Germany’s Climate Minster, Robert Habeck.

The European Union is also planning on reducing carbon emission by 55% between 1990 and 2030 and the United Nations has a goal of becoming net zero by the year 2050.

Germany is planning on increasing the number of wind and solar farms to phase out gas power into a backup roll.
